Early production PK22 lounge chair by Poul Kjærholm
I am pleased to present to you this original Danish lounge chair, designed in 1956 by the influential architect Poul Kjærholm for E. Kold Christensen. This chair, together with the accompanying coffee table PK61, established Poul Kjærholm's reputation as a great designer and received many awards.
The chair on offer was made by the Danish furniture manufacturer E. Kold Christensen in the 1960s. At the time you could order the chair with a canvas seat, a leather seat or with a rattan seat. This version, introduced in 1957, is the less common version with a seat in woven rattan.
I am offering the chair in refinished vintage condition. The matte, chrome-plated steel frame has been cleaned and is in excellent condition. The seat has been partially re-woven with new rattan to replace the broken parts. The back of the chair still retains his original patinated rattan and has some minor flaws.
