Early production Penta lounge chair
I am pleased to present to you this original German folding lounge chair, designed in 1969 by the French designer Jean-Paul Barray and the Dutch designer Kim Moltzer for Bofinger-Production.
The chair on offer was made by the German furniture manufacturer Bofinger, known for his avant-garde furniture, in the late 1960s or early 1970s.
At the time you could order the chair with a canvas seat, a leather seat or with a rattan seat. This version, introduced in 1957, is the less common version with a seat in woven rattan.
I am offering the chair in refinished vintage condition. The nickle-plated steel frame has been cleaned and is in excellent condition. The seat has been partially re-woven with new rattan to replace the broken parts.
