Illum Wikkelsø - Ringstol model 23

I am pleased to present to you this original Danish hoop chair, designed in the 1950s by the talented furniture designer Illum Wikkelsø. His design is considered a classic of Danish Mid-century Modern furniture design. 

The chair on offer was made by the Danish furniture manufacturer Niels Eilersen in the early 1960s. At the time you could order the chair with a paper cord seat or with a rattan seat. This version is the very rare version with a black lacquered frame and a seat in woven rattan. Only a few were made in this spec and it will be hard to find another one for sale.

I am offering the chair in restored vintage condition, the wooden frame has been repainted and the seat + backrest have been re-woven with new rattan. Over time, the color of the rattan will darken..
